I was born and raised in Arizona where I participated in athletics from volleyball to basketball and track and field. After playing Junior College volleyball at AZ Western, I made the journey and continued playing volleyball and ran track and field at William Penn University in Iowa. I graduated from William Penn University with a BA in Elementary Education with a Minor in Reading. I have 5 ½ years of Elementary classroom teaching experience from teaching 5th grade and a Reading Specialist in AZ. I have coached 10 plus years with students at the collegiate, high school and middle school levels in volleyball, basketball, track & field, and swimming in AZ, NM and IA.
I started my CrossFit journey in August of 2012 at CrossFit Maricopa. My first day at CrossFit, I was intimidated which soon turned to excitement to get started with the workouts! I didn’t have to worry about being judged on what I could or couldn’t do, just push myself to the limit and go from there. No egos were present, cheering and encouraging every person no matter where they finished a WOD. I found that supportive, competitive environment to get back into shape. This is what encouraged me to get my CrossFit Level 1 certificate in June of 2013 and began coaching CrossFit Maricopa’s Jump Start program and Kid’s Fitness before moving to Virginia. I enjoy seeing the “ah ha” moments of adults and children when a movement clicks and when a person can celebrate their personal success. I decided to continue my education and training and received my CrossFit Kids certificate May 2014. Since then Ardent CrossFit Kids program has begun to grow and evolve as more and more kids have discovered Fitness as fun.
In my spare time I enjoy being a mom/wife, walking our dog, exploring new places, working out, and finding a good book to read. My family has made Stafford our home and enjoys all that Virginia has shown us thus far.
