CrossFit Level 1 Trainer
USAW Sports Performance Coach
Former Marine Signals Intelligence/Electronic Warfare Officer
Growing up in Minnesota, I was involved in sports at an early age. Like everyone who grew up in my neighborhood, I played some hockey and wrestled. In high school, my passion was wrestling and I also joined the men’s gymnastics team. In 1988, I joined the Marines and spent twenty-plus years learning a new level of conditioning. As the Training Chief and later the Platoon Commander for the Radio Reconnaissance Platoon, I spent many years preparing Marines to be physically and mentally prepared for the rigors of advanced training and combat deployments. Retiring from the Marines in 2008, I continued to run and lift weights but was not seeing the results I desired. I was introduced to CrossFit in 2013, joining Ardent as a founding member long before the box was open for business. After my first CrossFit workout at Autumn Ridge Park…I was hooked on the fitness and the community. In an effort to improve my knowledge and abilities in Olympic Weightlifting, I attended the USAW Sports Performance Coach training in 2014. I have very much enjoyed participating in Oly meets and decided I wanted to help others to master these complex lifts. In 2016, I became a Level 1 CrossFit Trainer and look forward to the future and the opportunity to share my passion and some knowledge with the members of the Ardent CrossFit community.
