Meet Coach Jamie!  Jamie is married with two kids. Kylee who you’ll see rockin it in the afternoon classes and Kamdyn who you’ll see frequently dancing in the lobby! Her husband is the Army. Jamie recently switched careers from High School Teacher to full-time mom/homeschool teacher. Next time you are at Ardent, please say hi to Coach Jamie!

How long have you been coaching CrossFit? I coached at a previous gym for about 2 years before coming to Ardent. I’ve been coaching here at Ardent for 2 years.

How long have you been doing CrossFit? I started in 2015 after my husband convinced us to give it a try! So glad he did!

What is your favorite movement to coach? I love to coach the oly lifts, but also pull-ups and band stuff.

What is your favorite CrossFit movement? I love the snatch and clean & jerk because I feel like a superhero when I can get some heavier weights up. I love handstand walking and muscle ups because they are fun and I worked so hard to be able to do them! I love tire flips atlas stones. And, while most people want to start the assault bike on fire, I actually don’t mind it!

What has been your favorite coaching moment? I don’t know that I have one particular moment, but I love so much seeing athletes have something click that they were struggling with, and being able to be a part of it!

What is your advice to new CrossFitters? Technique before weight. The weight will come, but if you are too focused on that rather than proper technique, the gains will eventually stop. It’s ok to scale! Work on flexibility and accessory work outside of the class!

What’s your favorite Ardent memory? Too many to list a favorite! A lot of them involve inappropriate humor! Haha

What’s your biggest CrossFit accomplishment? While my 200lb power clean last week was pretty awesome, some of my biggest accomplishments have been the mental battles with myself that I’ve won and the examples that I’ve been able to set for my kids.

What are your favorite hobbies outside of CrossFit? Recovering from CrossFit.

Why did you become a coach? My first gym needed coaches and approached me about taking the course. However, since then my love for The Fitness has increased and I’ve received a number of additional certifications to learn how to move better and increase my coaching abilities.
